TB60 Novastar Controller
The NovaStar TB60 is a new-generation multimedia player engineered specifically to drive full-color LED displays. It fully integrates content playback and screen-sending capabilities, enabling users to completely manage and publish content via computer, mobile phone, or tablet. When operating in tandem with NovaStar’s cloud-based publishing and monitoring systems, the TB60 allows operators to manage screens from any internet-connected device worldwide.
Featuring native support for both synchronous and asynchronous playback modes along with frame-accurate multi-screen synchronization, it serves as an excellent option for commercial LED displays and smart city projects. Typical deployments include fixed displays, lamp-post setups, chain store displays, retail screens, digital advertising players, shelf displays, and door head screens.
Technical Specifications & Features
Core Processing & Display Capacities
-
Pixel Loading Capacity: Safely drives up to 2,300,000 total pixels. The maximum display width and height can each be configured up to 4096 pixels.
-
Custom Resolutions: Supports non-standard custom resolutions in both asynchronous and synchronous configurations, provided the custom resolution’s pixel clock does not exceed 153 MHz.
-
Processing Hardware: Powered by a high-performance quad-core ARM A55 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz with dedicated hardware support for 4K video decoding.
-
Memory & Storage: Features 1 GB of onboard RAM paired with 32 GB of secure internal solid-state storage.
-
Flawless Playback Capacity: Smoothly handles concurrent decoding streams up to 1x 4K video, 2x 1080p videos, 5x 720p videos, 6x 480p videos, or 6x 360p videos.
Note: Media files with native source resolutions between 2K and 4K are automatically natively converted into 4K during playback.
Video Input / Output & Scaling
-
Synchronous Live Input: Outfitted with 1x HDMI 1.3 input connector. The maximum supported input capability is 1920×1200 @ 60Hz with a pixel clock limit of 153 MHz. Interlaced input signals are not supported.
-
Loop-Through Output: Includes 1x HDMI 1.3 output connector supporting a maximum layout resolution of 1920×1200 @ 60Hz with full support for hardware loop configuration and HDCP 1.4 compliance. Interlaced signal output is strictly unsupported.
-
Automatic Screen Scaling: In synchronous mode, the active HDMI video source can be automatically scaled full-screen to fit the layout of your screen. Full hardware auto-scaling requires the source dimensions to be between 512 and 2048 pixels (for both width and height) with a ceiling resolution of $1920\times1080$. The video image can only be scaled down, it cannot be scaled up.
Hardware Interfaces & Connectors
-
Screen Output Connections: 4x Gigabit Ethernet ports. By default, all four ports serve as primary outputs, but they can also be split into 2x primary and 2x backup loop redundancy configurations.
-
Audio Interfacing: 1x 3.5 mm stereo audio output jack supporting standard three-pole audio connectors with a locked hardware sample rate of 48 kHz.
-
Control Port Infrastructure: Features 1x Gigabit Ethernet port for network switches/LAN connections, 1x USB Type-B port for link-ups to a local control computer, and 1x USB 3.0 Type-A port for external storage expansion, media playback, and firmware upgrades.
-
Environment Sensors: 2x dedicated sensor connectors to plug in external environment tracking tools such as brightness or temperature/humidity monitoring modules.
-
Antenna Slots: Physical external terminals for a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi antenna, an optional COM 2 GPS antenna, and an optional COM 1 4G cellular module antenna.
System Control & Connectivity
-
Simultaneous Wi-Fi Roles: Supports turning on Wi-Fi Access Point (AP) and Wi-Fi Station (Sta) modes at the same time. Users can tie the player to a facility Wi-Fi network while still hosting a local wireless hotspot for local smart terminal manipulation.
-
Network Redundancy Priority: Automatically manages data paths depending on available connections using a structured hierarchy: Wired Network > Wi-Fi Network > 4G Network. (Note: The 4G module is not pre-installed and must be purchased separately).
-
Multi-Screen Sync: Supports frame-accurate synchronous playback across separated screens via Network Time Protocol (NTP), GPS time syncing (requires 4G module), or RF radio synchronization modules. Enforcing active frame synchronization halves the device’s simultaneous video decoding headroom.
-
System Software Base: Powered by an Android 11 operating system kernel bundled with custom Android terminal application software and dedicated internal FPGA control program layers.
