TB30 Novastar Controller

The NovaStar TB30 is a new-generation multimedia player designed specifically for full-color LED displays. It integrates playback and sending capabilities, allowing users to publish content and control screens locally via a computer, mobile phone, or tablet. When paired with NovaStar’s cloud publishing and monitoring platforms, the TB30 enables comprehensive remote management from any internet-connected device. Characterized by its reliability and intelligent control, it is widely utilized for commercial displays and smart city applications, including fixed displays, lamp-post screens, chain stores, and digital advertising players.

Technical Specifications & Features

Core Performance & Capacity

  • Pixel Loading Capacity: Supports a loading capacity of up to 650,000 pixels. The maximum width and height can each be configured up to 4096 pixels.

  • Processing Hardware: Equipped with a quad-core ARM A55 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz alongside dedicated hardware support for 4K video decoding.

  • Memory & Storage: Features 1 GB of onboard RAM and 32 GB of internal solid-state storage.

  • Playback Capacity: Smoothly handles concurrent decoding layouts, including 1x 4K video, 2x 1080p videos, 5x 720p videos, 6x 480p videos, or 6x 360p videos.

  • Note: Videos with source resolutions between 2K and 4K are automatically natively converted into 4K videos during playback.

Hardware Interfaces & Connectors

  • Display Output: 2x Gigabit Ethernet ports. One port serves as the primary output link and the other acts as a hardware backup.

  • Network & Control Interfaces: * 1x Gigabit Ethernet port for connecting to a control computer, LAN, or public network for configuration and content publishing.

    • 1x USB (Type B) port for direct control computer connections.

  • USB Ports (Storage): 1x USB 3.0 (Type A) port allowing for direct USB media playback, firmware upgrades, and storage expansion.

  • Audio: 1x Stereo audio connector supporting standard three-pole 3.5 mm audio jacks. The hardware audio sample rate is fixed at 48 kHz.

  • Sensor Slots: 2x Dedicated sensor connectors supporting plug-and-play links for brightness sensors or combined temperature/humidity environment sensors.

  • Antenna Terminals: Physical expansion terminals for a Wi-Fi antenna, an optional GPS antenna (COM 2), and an optional 4G cellular antenna (COM 1).

Connectivity & System Functionality

  • Simultaneous Wi-Fi Roles: Wi-Fi AP and Wi-Fi Sta modes can be active concurrently. Users can tie the player to an upstream Wi-Fi station network while hosting a local Wi-Fi hotspot for direct terminal control.

  • Network Failover Priority: Automatic hierarchy selection depending on link availability: Wired Network > Wi-Fi Network > 4G Network.

  • Note: The device ships without a cellular module; 4G modules must be purchased separately if required.

  • Multi-Screen Sync: Supports frame-accurate synchronous playback across separate display screens via Network Time Protocol (NTP), GPS time syncing, or RF time synchronization modules. Enabling frame-sync tracking halves the player’s simultaneous video decoding headroom.

  • System Software: Powered by an Android 11 operating system base running custom Android terminal applications and dedicated FPGA control programs.
